Iced Chai Tea Latte
Iced chai tea latte.
Is there anything better?
Probably not.
I've recently discovered iced chai tea lattes (I know, I'm really late to the party) but they are probably my new all-time favourite drink.
By probably, I mean definitely.
Good timing as well! The sunshine is out and these are the perfect summer treat.
These are sure to delight your senses in many ways - the smell, the taste...
That creamy spicy flavour is like no other!
Almost everyone I know starts their day with a cup of coffee. This is a much healthier and tastier summer swap! So give it a try.
You know how much I love sharing simple and easy recipes. Well step this way as this recipe will save you money (in your face Starbucks) and it tastes so delightfully beautiful.
Ingredients
2 Rooibos Tea bags or loose tea leaves (I like Roboois as it's a lovely caffeine alternative but do feel free to use black tea!)
5 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick [or 3 tsps ground cinnamon]
2 slice ginger
5 whole cloves
2 tsps mixed spice
Coconut milk (alternatively use unsweetened almond milk)
If you like a bit of sweetness, add in 2 tsps coconut palm sugar/ date syrup/maple syrup
Method
Combine all the ingredients and two cups of water into a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the syrup and stir around. Turn off the heat and let the spices do their thing in for another 15 minutes. Strain into a separate bowl and let it cool down.
To make one large glass, add a handful of ice, 6 teaspoons of the above mixture and enough milk to fill up your glass. Mix well and drink immediately.
Mmmmm!
[Psssst, extra tip! Pour your leftover chai mixture into ice cube trays and freeze them to give your next iced chai tea latte an even better taste!]
It's so much easier, much cheaper AND way more refreshing than anything you'll find at a coffee shop.
