Smoothie Season

So this week I have been asked by a wonderful friend of mine for some smoothie recipes. So I thought I'd share a bunch of my easy and go-to recipes for you all to enjoy!

Smoothies are my favourite. You can't help but love a smoothie. There's so much to love as well. Minimum fuss, so much goodness and just a complete and utter taste sensation in just a cup. It's enough to bring a tear of joy to even the most hardcore fast food worshipper.

Keep the fruit ripe (better for digestion for anyone with tummy issues!) and get a load of fresh veggie goodness in there.

Homemade smoothies are the bomb. Don't believe me? Try one of these guys and then come back and tell me that.

Gloriously Green Detox Smoothie

Green smoothies might look a bit scary to green-phobes, but one sip and everything will change!

50g of pineapple

1 peeled kiwi

300ml of coconut water

1/2 avocado

1 handful of spinach

1/2 tsp of coconut oil (make sure it's in liquid form otherwise you'll get a lumpy smoothie! Tip: Keep it somewhere warm for a little while to let it melt)

Sumptuously Sweet Strawberry & Mint Smoothie

The perfect smoothie to start your day with, especially if the weather is on your side!

Handful of fresh mint leaves

1 tbsp almond butter

· 200ml coconut milk [or unsweetened almond milk works too!]

Half an avocado

Half a cucumber

400g strawberries

2 dates

Mouthwatering Maca, Blueberry & Spinach Smoothie

Maca powder is rich in Vitamin B and Vitamins C and E. Full of calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and amino acids! It's great for energy, general health, skin, mood balance and it's widely used to promote sexual function of both and women. Cheeky!

1 tsp maca powder

1 tsp coconut oil

3 dates

1 tsp vanilla extract

1-1/2 tbsps almond butter

Handful of spinach

Half a peeled avocado

150g blueberries

200ml water or coconut water

Amazing Acai Mango Smoothie

Acai is a great source of essential fatty acids, amino acids and antioxidants so adds a super-nutritional boost to jazz up your smoothie!

(Fun fact: Acai is pronounced ah-sah-ee)

1 cup of water or coconut water

1 tablespoon acai powder or 2 tablespoons acai juice

1 cup fresh or frozen mango chunks

1/2 banana (ideally frozen)

2 Dates

Chocolatey Cacao Blueberry Spirulina Smoothie

Chocolate? The chocolate element to this smoothie delight is the glorious superfood that is Cacao. Chocolate in it's purest form. Now this guy has more than 300 nutritional compounds and is one of the richest sources of antioxidants of any food on the planet. It's full of magnesium and has been found to help regulate blood pressure and reduce cholesterol while building the immune system. Win!

Now let's not forget the green goddess that is Spirulina. We'll pretend that we don't know that it's actually green algae because it's pretty special. It's packed full of calcium, niacin, potassium, magnesium, B Vitamins and iron. Also bursting with amino acids. Green goddess indeed.

1 cup milk [unsweetened almond or coconut]

1/2 avocado

1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

1 tablespoon tahini

1 tablespoon raw cacao powder

1/2 tablespoon cacao nibs (to sprinkle on at the end)

1/2 tablespoon spirulina

1/4 teaspoon vanilla powder or extract

So for a fast way to get a lot of nutrition with minimum fuss, blend yourself up a smoothie. Such a convenient meal on the move when there is not much time to sit and chew so start smoothie-making now. Right now. Seriously stop reading this and GO!

Anyway, try one of these recipes out and leave me a comment to let me know how you got on!

Until next time my dears
